Actually I have her with three Serpae Tetras. She was in another tank with other Angels, but a pair was established and they were beating her up pretty badly so I bought her a 20g extra tall.

Are Angels okay by themselves or should I try to find another Angel tankmate for her? If there are only two in a tank does it matter their sex?

Help!!

I have little experience with serpae tetras, but I might suggest 3 or so more in the event they get nippy - I have heard they can be. angels have long fins and the serpaes could cause some damage.

Taht said, i use serpaes as dithers for my juvenile convict and jewel cichlid and they have never bother eithe rof them or my pleco, so maybe what i read about hem wasn;t true.

Good luck!

thats what caught my eye to, s. tetras i too only have limited knowledge about this fish, but i think they can be nippy and if the angel is not a standard fin then they could have problems. i think a 20 high is a tad small for a angel, a 55 high is better.

I have kept Serpaes and ANgelfish together for over a year with no problems. They seem to do fine. My main concern is that the Angel be okay without another angel. Now, if there were just two angels would there still be a chance of aggression or does that usually only happen when there are three or more?

I have a 65g tall hex and a 72g bowfront, but both contain a mated pair of angels. I will have to stick with the 20g Extra Tall until I can get a bigger tank. She seems pretty happy in there. I understand what you are saying though, about perhaps a larger tank.

The Angel will be fine all by itself.
A 20G tall tank is not big enough for an adult
angel by itself, so I wouldnt add another one.
You may need to upgrade that tank to a 29G Tall
in the future when the Angel grows.
They do get to be 10-14 inches tall and 8 inches from snout to base to tail in a large specimen.
But they take a while to get that big.
