Finally getting around to setting up my 33 gallon (25 x 12.5 x 24.5 LxWxH) and I'm putting in a pair of angels and a school of 4 julii cories & 2-3 fake julii cories.

Is there any special care I should know about angels? And if I wanted to change the layout I have planned to a crystal/rock bed (I wouldn't move the cories from where they are), should I worry about torn fins with the angels?

With fw angels, are there a large variety of patterns (I've seen marble and then streaked, but I'm not too fond of either). Or any angels that have some color in them?

Or should I just rethink the angels all together and if so what should I stock it with? ^_^

Edit: fixed parameters

angels come either, regular scaled, to pearl scaled. and then veil tail, and standard tail. wild color(sliver, striped) white/black/gold/gold marble/koi/etc.

as u can imagine the veil tail angels(long fin) are more e to fin damage. i wouldn't say that they need anything special, except if you get altum(different type from scalerine[spelled wrong]) i wouldn't say that they need anything fancy. just some extra sword plants.

Hi Sandy,
the only problem with Angels is your tank.
Unfortunately, your tank is only 12.5 inches tall, which doesnt allow enough room for a fish that gets to be 10-12 inches tall to swim around.
With Angelfish, a taller tank is important, one of at least 18 inches high.
You could keep Angels, but not for their whole lives in that tank. You would constantly be trading them away every 6 months once they grow too tall for the tank.
There are lots of other fish you could keep in there that would be much more suited to the shallow tank, such as
Bolivian Rams, tetras of all sorts, german blue rams, etc.

25 x 24.5 x 12.5 LxWxH is too short for Angels. You need more height, so that your Angels can grow & have beautiful fins.

Dyslexic, that should've read lxhxw

The height is 24.5" - the width is 12.5", so I was told angels would be perfect with a small school of cories

Edit: did it again -.-

ooooo if the height is 24 inches then angels will be fine
They prefer soft acidic water, which can be acheived easily via adding peat granules to your filter
They like a variety of foods, and prefer to be in a group
Angels are very dynamic fish, and are what I would consider a "pet fish" like an oscar or any other large friendly cichlid.

Yes, you can add some Corydoras with your Angels in a 33 gal. high tank.
