are they a Rodney and Ben

Rodney swore he wouldn't tell anybody

As far as I know it's impossible to tell the difference between the Angel sexes until they actually breed and the female produces an ovidpositer.

Most who wish to breed Angels just get a group , put them together and wait to see who pairs up with who, if any do. Once they've identified a pair or pairs they remove the rest.

I think it's impossible to sex them from a photograph, but somebody who knows more then me might pop along

As long as it's not Rodney, I want a word with him .......

You can faintly make out the pear shaped outline of the reproductive organs in the first fish, leading me to assume it is a female. The second is more difficult to sex.

Hi Angel
your angels look very much like two males to me.
I cannot see any pear outline at all.
Keep an eye out over the next couple of days,
if one is a female, the ovipositor will drop down
and be very visible.
It will look like a rounded short tube.
I wish I had a pic of my females to show you,
but I dont. She should be laying again in the next few days, so when she does I will take a pic of both angels to show you.
Maybe that will help.
How big are your angels? They may only be just coming into breeding age.

The ovipositor does not drop down until courtship commences---this can occur between two females as well. Unless this a case of heavy overfeeding, which it could be, my verdict stands.

The BEST way to sex them is to shine a light behind the fish. From the front, you will be able to clearly see the pear or the triangle, depending on the sex of the fish.

Angels are very difficult to sex. I think the best way is to see them mating & then laying eggs.
I think that's the only 100% answer.

No, actually, it is quite easy with the aforementioned method, which has been perfected by the Gan Angel Farm, and utlizied by many serious commercial breeders as well. In 9 different pairs, I've never had this test fail me.
