Just a curious question, but when Angels spawn, and the male fertilizes the eggs, can you see the milt? My angels just spawned for the 4th time, and I am hoping they will hatch. The last 3 batches did not. They spawned only about 6 hours ago, which was accomplished by the female laying rows straight up the java fern leaf, then the male would swim right up behind her, I assume he is fertilizing them, and so far only 1 egg has turned white, and the angels are fanning like crazy and being very attentive.
Can anyone tell me if this is for sure how the males fertilize eggs, or if there is any way to tell if he is infertile? Or am I just being jumpy and nervous and thinking the worst? Maybe they will get it right this time...

Pete - yes the male takes his turn running his papillae over the eggs, following the female's run.

I have never been able to see the milt either.

I have read that sometimes in a young pair, the male is too young the first few times and may either "shoot blanks" or be lacking in accuracy.
