Hi all!

I'm puzzled to see my angel fish lock their mouthes together just like kissing gourami's do. I've heard that it's a breeding habit but I'm puzzled because they have just breeded. The fry are still swimming in the tank and they are mouth locking. I would like to know why this behavior is occuring.

One is wanting to breed again and the other isn't in the mood.

How old are the fry?

Good job. I was never able to get my breeders to raise thier own. The best I got was to free swimming at which point they were gobbled.

Thx Mike.

But I'm still very concern abt their "kissing" behavior. If this goes on, one of them would get hurt. Any takers on y are they "kissing"?

I think that they are fighting, but just keep an eye on them, so they'll don't get aggressive.

Congratulations for the fry, just take care of them & feed them some live food.

Hiya all, im new, anyways

Angelfish get very territorial, especially during breeding times, its most likely the female is acting aggresive towards the male because she is protecting her young and he poses a threat to them. My two rams lip lock all of the time when in each others terrotory, maybe you should try dividing the tank with dividers and separting the male and the female with young, until the young get a bit older. How old are the fry just now?

Hi jynxy and welcome to fish profiles!

The funny part is that it is the male that is protecting the fry now. Female seems like she has given up. But I removed the fry to another tank already. The angels are fine now

Thx
