Hi all,

I bought my first angelfish (after 25 years of cichlid keeping) as a single specimen to hang mid/upper water in my 29 gallon Bolivian ram tank 4 days ago. There is no aggression most of the time (the angel is about 3" tall which includes the fins)except during feeding when the angel isn't so angelic and takes after everyone trying to eat up top (4 bolivian rams and 4 black phantom tetras). The angel is so aggressive at feeding time that no one gets a chance to eat after the first nibble. This din't happen the first two days...

Do you think the angelfish will calm down or is this only likely to escalate?

I'm torn between leaving things for another week or taking the angel back to the LFS. What do you all think?

Thanks,

Eric

Rams usually swim at mid-lower ranges of water strata, so I would stick my hand in and place some food at the bottom while distravting the angels with floaters. Or stick some food by the filter current, which should bring the food right to your rams. I use the same strategy when feeding my cardies, glasscats, and false upsie cat in the presence of angels.
