Hi, went away for a few days thinking everything will be fine Get home yesterday and one of my lovely rosy tetra's is floating (been ill for 2 months but was recovering from losing an eye) and my silly angelfish has tried to swallow one of my pygmy cories whole! he has been trying to get it down his throat for 24 hours now and i'm worried the stress might kill him any help would be great? (tried netting him and using tweezers but it won't come back up his gullet)

my saratoga did this to a corie in a tank when he was just a wee lad.. they are all very much seperated now - dont worry cory fans ...

anyway.. i was able to get him out without much damage to the cory or the saratoga by pusshing the fin down from inside.. then again from the other.. the cory actually lived and the saratoga is well.. now a monster.

I offer this advice just about hopelessly as obviuosly saratoga mouth is about 40x bigger then the angel fish.. but it may be worth a try rather than it just dying on its own.

I had the fish in a large net.. still mostly in the tank when i did this.. the saratoga was remarkably calm.

thank vuvuchild! finally found a vet and it only cost £5! the angel is looking a bit wobbly but i've reduced the current slightly to help him out as he is now a bit weak. the vet pretty much did what you said and the bit of the cory he removed was very tough and spiny. sorry cory fans they've been in the tank together for 8 months and this is the first time i've lost a fishy this way there are still 5 left though and i wont be taking my eyes off them! ]:|

Sorry to hear that your Angel died. I had a fully grown Angel that ate a Rummynose Tetra & then spitting the tail. I couldn't believe what i saw, but my Angel survived & was healthy.

Yeah, unfortunately, you learned the hard way that pygmy cories shouldn't be in a tank with any fish big enough to get it in its mouth. If an angel will eat a neon tetra, a pygmy is just a snack waiting to happen.

People errantly put other species of cories in with goldfish. One of our members had the same outcome - dead cory, followed by a dead goldfish a little later. The only cory that would go into a goldfish tank, might be a large brochis cat, but he would have to be big.

Sorry Dave - Poor fellas
