Ok what i would do is just let them be and get a 30 gallon and put the both of them in it alone to get a chance to breed.

They are attacking each other because the male is trying to get the female to spawn. I have one pair that fights like crazy before every spawn. He probably won't injure her, just a little roughhousing before getting down to business.

If you want to save the fry you can remove the eggs and hatch them yourself. Get a small aquarium, 5gal. or so, an air pump and air stone, some METHYBLU, a sponge filter, brine shrimp eggs and a hatchery.

Put the sponge filter in your big tank to get some bacteria growing for when the fry become free swimming.

Set up the small aquarium with the same temp as your big tank.

Put in METHYBLU one drop per gallon.

Put the airstone in the tank weighted down with a rock.

Get the leaf or the rock with the eggs and place it near the airstone so the bubbles agitate the water near the eggs. If the bubbles are knocking eggs off it's too close or you have too much air comeing out of the stone.

In a couple of days the eggs will hatch and the wigglers will hang on or fall to the bottom of the tank, either is ok.

Some eggs will not hatch and get fuzzy, that's ok. don't try to untangle the wigglers, when they become free swimming they'll get loose themselves.

On day 6 after spawning start hatching brine shrimp.

Feed them only after the fry become free swimming.

Replace the airstone with the sponge filter.

Good luck, Mike

They eggs will more than likely not be fertile. The reason being in most community tanks we use powerheads, back filters that create current. Angelfish need almost no water movement to get the job done right...lol, anyway if you want to try them again, set-up a 20gal High with a foam filter, heater and a upside down small flower pot and in a couple weeks they should spawn again. BTW, if the eggs turn white they are NG. Also if they get covered with a white fuzz they are being attacked by bacteria. Later

I think another tank is a good idea. Several actually, you'll need the room to grow the fry but you don't need an ugly old sponge filter. I have 3 pairs of angels, two of the tanks have power filters on the back. one has a Penguin 330 and the other tank has a Penguin 170 and a Penguin 125.

You can also make it a community tank just make sure the angels are boss. Decorate it, plant it, do all the fun stuff. Just make sure you give them several choices for places to spawn. Plastic amazon sword plants, slate, a flower pot all work well. Mine almost always go for the plastic plants. But that's good for me if I want to save the spawn because its easy to remove the eggs.

The fry probably won't make it if it's a community tank but thats ok because you would need a pile of tanks if every spawn made it. I save about 6 or 8 spawns a year and that keeps me busy enough.
