I was thinking about making a new tank (30gals or so) and put there 2 to 4 angelfishes. What other tank-mates whould you recomend?
People tell me that they would fell nice with american ciclids, what do you think about that?

American cichlids would work, you should add a pair of Bolivian rams. By the way, four angelfish wouldn't fit in your tank, it would be best to add two.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I would personally get a 29G not a 30G if it was a 30G you were getting. Angelfish like tall tanks and a 30G I would say is just a little to short. a 29G is about the min Height and would be better for the Angelfish. As said before 4 is waaayyy too many. a pair would be fine in there as long as you consider the 2 as 20G which is a large portion of your stocking limit. Make sure you have either a for sure pair or buy a bunch and return the rest when a pair forms. If you dont have a pair theres going to be some agression problems most likely. Keep in mind its basically impossible to sex an angelfish. I just went with 1 considering the pain it can be to get a pair. As far as tank mates go any peacefull fish will be fine, except neon tetra unless they are raised with the angelfish so the angelfish does not see them as the pray they are naturally. I would also reccomend you get a large angelfish and not the really small kind when you get it due to the fact the the small ones can be EXTREMELLY fragile and die rather easy. I would not reccomend you get any thing even considerd semi-agressive as angels DO NOT like to be picked on. Well as if any fish does. I had mine with a firemouth for awhile and it was not a pretty fish. I would reccomend that the angelfish be "the king of the tank." If you have to get cichlids for tankmates keep to the known peacefull kinds such as African Butterfly cichlids, any aspitos, rams, basically any peacefull dwarf cichlid. Its got to be under 7" I would think for a 29G tank. Considering you only have 9-10G of stocking room after the 2 angels you wouldnt have many other tank mates. I would suggest you get a bristlenose pleco, bullnose pleco or a trio of ottos for algae so that even takes your stocking down farther. There one be much else in a 29G tank after a pair of angels . I hope my experience helps! Good luck.

Oh yeah and dont get a red parrot cichlid.
1. they get too big
2. Theyre too agressive for an Angel
3. Theyre painted I believe (BAD!!!).

Oh and cories are fine. Anything thats peacefull is fine as long as it won't outgrow the tank. Keep in mind angels can reach 12" tall and 8" long.

i bought a book by david e. boruchowitz and in it he has a suggested scheme for a 29g of 2 angels, 3 swordfish (1 male and 2 female, their fry are snacks of the angels) and 6 cories. this is what i am planning on for my 29. also, he really pushes doing alot of water changes so this might not work if you don't have the time to do that. this is just what i read, not what i know, so take it for what it is worth.

If you're getting small apistos, stick to baby angels (they're much hardier than you give them credit for). I added a pair of agassiziis a week ago and promptly returned them (actually one, as the other died on the way back to the store to the LFS, as my golden pair harrassed them continuously. I've had some tempermental issues with Ramirezes, but others have had success mixing the two, although a 30 is a bit cramped. The cory setup is nice, although make sure you get some of the smaller swordtail species (swordfish don't fit into thirty gals lolol :-X). I've seen large reds that were at least five inches in length, and they can sometimes get a bit nippy.

Klee's right, I had some Green swords and they nipped at everything. Some fancy guppies might be the way to go, they stay small and you can get some nice color in the tank. I've had tanks with only male guppies but if you are going to have both male and female make sure you get 2 females for every male. (OH to be a guppy) The males will pester the females so you need more of them.
If it were me, I'd get guppies, cories and a pair of rams to go with the angels.
Have fun, there's nothing like setting up a new tank.
