I confess. I'm just simply a cichlid person. I've tried this whole "community tank" thing, and it bores me. So, I'm getting rid of most of my 55g inhabitants, except for a young peckolitia plec, a mated pair of angels and I'm moving some golden wonder killies.

Is it possible for any SA/CA cichlids to go with angels? If not, I'll stop my plans for returning my other fish.

The rams and most Apistogramma cichlids will work well with angelfish. These dwarf cichlids are generally peaceful, and won't bother angels or other such fish.

I do love rams, but I fear they're too small to really fill in a 55g. What about firemouths? I've always liked the looks of them-- but I'm afraid they might beat up my angels...?

Yup, they probably would. Firemouths aren't really aggressive per se, but they will easily dominate angelfish and other such peaceful cichlids. Plus, firemouths like their pH somewhat higher than angels do.
