those fish are from different regions (electric yellows are from Lake Malawi in Africa and Angels are from south america) and require different water conditions. They also have different behaviour patterns. So otherwords it's not advised to keep them together.

No way, just don't try it. 2 different Cichlids from 2 different continents & different water parameters.

Hi, thanks for the advice, although im more interested in behavior patterns, aggression etc.

The water parameters; PH, Temp etc, shouldn't have that much
impact as all Electric yellows in Australia are tank bred and will adapt quite well i believe, the fact that their from different countries/areas is irrelevent, most will be fine mixing.

Im just concerned about the Electric Yellows being aggressive towards the other fish, i know that they dont have any probs with Clown loaches , but im not sure about Angelfish.

So if anyone keeps Electric Yellows please let me know about their behaviour patterns etc.

Thanks.

electric yellows are mbuna and tho they are one of the least aggressive they are still agressive and constantly fight for territory. angels are also sow swimmers and like a peaceful tank and all of the activity from the electric yellow will probably make them stress

Although your particular store may raise yellow labs in neutral ph, most do not. Therefore, it is imposssible for any of us to know what will happen, because we ourselves can not put them together. This is extremely dangerous because we do not know how they will act. We can only guess by what we knoe about hte two fish individually.

Hi,
I have kept electric yellows & angels in my community tank for over two years. The trick I think is 1) Put em together young 2) I regularly ( every 3 months or so) move all the furniture in my tank around this stops a lot of the territory wars.
It is so sucessful that the Yellows have bred 3 times. I even leave the fry in the tank, this cuts final numbers way down ( 2, 4, & 2 to date) but all offspring are happy & healthy.
