I was wondering if 3 angels and 2 Blue rams would be compatible in a 40 gallon? The pH is going to be around 6.4 when im completely done messing around with the tank so they (angels or rams) may breed. I'm asking if they would be compatible if either were to breed? Thanks

I think those fish will be ok. The rams might get aggressive during breeding time, but the fish should do fine overall.

If the angels are already established with each other, it'll work fine. Usually introducing three new angels together will have some aggression problems that may take some time to fix.

Make sure the blue rams are a good size to defend from the angels. If the angels or the rams decide to breed, you might have some slight aggression.

Other than that, its a pretty good stock list. Have you had any thoughts on bottom feeders? I'm thinking corys.

No worries. you should be fine. Blues seem to be a bit nippy for me, but as long as you keep an eye on them, you should be fine. That sounds like a real nice tank you've got going there. A few smaller end plecos sound like a nice addition to that tank as well.

Best of luck.

I'de be concerned if the rams breed; they aren't very nice when it happens. Maybe do two male rams, add them at the same time and size- they'll get along fine after a few days, the dominant one usualy harasses (but in my experience doesn't damage) the more passive fish. With angels breeding I have no clue as to how things would go.

Ideally, you could possibly have both cories and plecs--maybe 5 cories (does the jump between 5 fish and six really make that muich of a difference?) and a bristlenose. Of course, then I'd suggest you get smaller tetras. I've had rams in all kinds of substrate, and they do fine. Substrate is the least of your concerns.

Is 4really that far away 5 is 3 really that far away from 4. No its not but its best for the fish to have 6 and even then 8 or 12 is much much better.

I think hes saying 5 isn't far away from the ideal number of a school. But 4 is a bit too far from the ideal number of a school. i think thats what hes trying to say

Hey, fish, with the ram duo, I don't think she can afford more than 6 cories in there.
