I now have a 75g in my living room with only a pair of BN. I plan on acquiring 5 or 6 small angelfish and when they pair off, keep one or two pairs and trade the rest in at a lfs. I know the tank will have a pair of BN in it, 6 metae cories, possibly 6 other cories, and a school of tetras. Would the black neon tetras be ok with angelfish? I know that they are larger than the neons. I also have a friend that is willing to give me all the white sailfin mollies I want. Would mollies be ok in a community tank, or should I stay away from live bearers? I want to stick to SA fish, and would be pleased if I could eventually set the angels up for breeding. Any suggestions about my stocking?

Put the Angels(small) in with the neons from the begining. You will prolly see no problems with them UNTIL breeding begins. Then its up in the air. Ive no comment on the mollys as I've never kept.

Mollies and Angels will get along fine. Mollies like salt in the water but they do okay without it. A bonus is that the Angels will eat the Molly fry ang grow like weeds.

Once the Angels start breeding all bets are off though. Everything might get along fine or the Angels might beat the snot out of everything that moves. If the Angels aren't real protective the Cories might get the eggs and the Mollies the fry. You'll just have to wait and see.

Get 6 small Angels & let them pair off. Get some Corydoras & Tetra's, to make it a SA tank.
After the Angels have paired off, i would keep 2 pairs, together with the 2 BN, Tetra's & Corydoras.
Don't forget to add some Driftwood.

Id go ahead and get some mollies, and add the tetras when the angels are small, so theyll get used to them.

Mollies don't need salt , or even do better with it. Salt only makes up for poorer water conditions.

Mollies need clean water, and do much better if its hard and alkaline. They are found in the wild in FW, and farmed in FW.

I dunno; a fellow I've worked with in LA collected most of his stock from the brackish marshwaters dotting the islands dotting the CA land bridge. Nearly ALL southeatern US colonies are found in brackish water. Although there are indeed many freshwater molly populations, the genus has more than it's fair share of brackish water specimens as well. The bottom line is that it depends which species one speaks of when they use the word molly.

EDIT: for the record, I have kept several species in FW as well as brackish. Neither showed any signs of being anything other than healthy.

I know that the mollys are kept in fw, so any of the fry that I would get from the breeder, Tanker, should do ok in a fw tank. Thanks for the advice. I know it will take some time to get the tank up the way I want it, and even though I want instant results, I am willing to wait. Plus, I want to see if the two BNs that came with the tank are going to breed if supplied with caves, hidey holes, fresh veggies and driftwood. Figured if they do breed and the fry hatch, then I will wait for the fry to grow out some before adding any more new occupants to the tank.
