![]() | Another Bolivian Ram question |
vjayshutterbug![]() Fingerling Posts: 24 Kudos: 29 Votes: 0 Registered: 27-Jan-2005 ![]() ![]() | Okay, my two Bolivian Rams are sticking together like they are best buddies. I can't tell the sexes yet, but is this a good indication that I lucked out and have a male and female? I mean, if they were same sex, would they be getting along so well? I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, but am new to cichlids. |

Yes this is a good indication you have a pair. Mine hate each other, and will fight at the sight of one another. |

Usually, Bolivian rams of the same sex don't hang out together like you have described. Is there any chance that you can get us some pictures, so that we can confirm if you do indeed have a pair? |

One is slightly bigger, and a little more reddish (pinkish, orangeish?) on the bottom area. And that coloring seems to come and go. Does that mean anything? Still to young to sex, although one is noticeably bigger and they were the same size when i got them a month ago or so. |

As their is no fin damage or anything i wonder if they are m/f. Only time will tell i guess. |

It's not very difficult. The dorsal, anal and caudal fins have filamentous tips whereas the females are more rounded. Some females have a very slight filament to the caudal fin but usually they are rounded. JazzyB:88) |
