I've been looking at going with tricoti for my 125 rather than Cyps but am not sure I should head down that route without talking to some tricoti owners. Anyone? Bueller?

I've seen that one, but thanks. It's one of, basically, two articles online, which is a little sad.

Honestly I've talked myself out of it now, but I'd still like (as a base of general knowledge ... and because I'm still thinking about them for the future ) to know just how true the rumors of utter delicacy are, whether they can be kept on gravel, whether they're safe with, say, N. similis since they're said to be fine with N. brevis and L. calliurus, that sort of thing. Thanks!

I know that as far as water goes, he does more water changes on this tank than most of his others. His losses are/were low, at about 5%. Our local waters are almost identical out of the tap, as Lake Tanganyika. I will ask him about other fish he has kept them with. And what he thinks of those you have listed.

Thanks very much. The water changes - yup, their delicacy is why I decided against them in the end, at least for now. I don't worry that I couldn't handle it, but while I'm away at school my family takes care of the tanks. They can deal with most fish but tricoti would be asking too much.
