I have a 29 gallon that is around 19" tall,it is lightly planted. Right now 5 zebra danios and 5 platies are living there. I'm trying to decided what to finish stocking the tank with and angels have caught my eye. I believe that the fish I have now are compatible with angels, but i'm not sure. And how many angels should I get? Just one or will a pair be fine? I hope that a single one won't be lonely.

Do Angels need any special food or is regular tropical food fine. I feed Aquarian tropical flakes, tetra color flakes, brine shrimp flakes, and freeze-dried blood worms. Will angels thrive on this diet or should I add something new?

Finally, sometimes the water changes are delayed a few days longer than they should be. Nothing serious for the zebras and platies, but will the angels be ok?

An angelfish wouldn't bother the fish you have in your tank, but I've heard about schools of danios picking on angels. One angel is fine, as you already have plenty of fish, and they will eat regular food, though treats are always appreciated. Don't worry if your water change is delayed some, angelfish are not delicate, they will be able to withstand it.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Generally if danios are kept in good-sized schools they won't bother other fish, but of course there are always exceptions I've personally never had angels with danios but I do have one in my 29g with platies and they don't bother each other. The angel does like platy fry though

With that size tank and the amount of fish you already have I'd recomment one angel. It will be fine by itself and made a nice centerpiece for your tank.

I will only get one Angel, i can't wait for it to "lord" over all the other fish. But the only thing i'm worrying about now is the size of my zebra danios. Three of them arn't as big as I think they should be. I read that neons are only 1.5" and danios grow to 2". That is only a .5" difference and some of my zebras are smaller than normal so they would be around neon size (i guess). So do you think they will be safe?

Also, I have read conflicting opinions about the size you should get new Angels at. Should I get them small or large or does it really matter?

Neons are natural prey of angels. Zebra danios are speedy and IMO I don't think there would be a problem.

I bought my angels when they were quarter-sized. They've done well and I'm amazed how quickly they grow. I personally haven't read much about purchase size but maybe I just got lucky with mine.
