I would like to add a group of fish to my 125usg that houses my green terror and 6 giant danios. I was thinking about tiger barbs but I am open to other suggestions.

Green Terror?

Hmm. Finding something that will live with that fish compatibly is going to be a tough one. That fish will hit 12 inches gievn enough space and food, which means that even your Giant Danios will need to get a move on and put on some body mass if they're to remain too big to eat.

This is one setup in which a Red Tailed Black Shark could work though. Red Tailed Black Sharks become chunky, muscular 7 inch fishes that are well able to hold their own with bad tempered Cichlids - especially in a set up as large as a 125 gallon. In fact, some Red Tailed Black Sharks are ornery enough to pick fights with big Cichlids instead of waiting for the Cichlids to start the conflict ...

Some of the larger Synodontis catfishes are also a possibility. However, if you choose one of these, be advised that the Synodontis species best suited to living alongside your Green Terror are themselves predatory and will probably help themselves to your Giant Danios once they've piled on some body mass - I know for a fact that this is a definite risk with Synodontis acanthomias, which is one of the BIG Synos that will hold its own with a Green Terror without any problems whatsoever - in fact, a big acanthomias might even decide to launch a pre emptive strike on the Green Terror if it feels that the Cichlid is pushing its weight around too much! However, if the fishes are integrated at an early enough stage of development, they settle in and accept each other's territorial rights.

Be advised that if you DO run with Synodontis acanthomias, it is a stunning large show catfish as it grows older. It might even learn to take food from your hand and become a real pet. Here is a page covering this fish which makes no bones about how tough and feisty this fish can be. A perfect foil for your Green Terror - provided of course that you prepare yourself for the possibility of it helping itself to your Giant Danios once it reaches about 8 inches in length ...
