Hi,

can anyone give my advise on a / some nice fish (i want them to look a bit like the american cichlids - firemouth, convict etc). To go with a Black Calvus in a 25G tank. I would like Cichlids.

Other fish in my tank are BN Plec and ..... a Redtailed Black shark.

I have been told to get rid of either the Calvus or the RTBS, i dont want to unless absolutely necessary. yeah the Calvus doesnt like the RTBS, and chases it away from its hiding place. The shark is too swift and gets away easy.

Plec doesnt give a damn.

Plec 4inches
RTBS 2 1/2 Inches
Black calvus 2 1/2 Inches

Cheers guys

Leon

Not a good combo and I wouldn't add anything else. If you like amazo, get rid of the calvus, if you like rift lake, drop the RTBS. Then, we'll see what you can add.

You said you don't want to get rid of either unless it's absolutely necessary. For the health of those fish in the long run, it is absolutely necessary to get one or the other out of that tank. I recommend another, larger tank for the one you remove, not a trip back to a petstore...

Ok, this is good stuff, I will be getting a bigger Tank soon enough. I am well hooked (excuse the pun) on this fish keeping stuff. I'll get a 55Gal next.

Question, which fish to put in wihich tank

Ok, what would you put with Calvus in 55G

or Galvus in 25G

I'm not familiar with RTBS, but am with Calvus - and they are a particular favourite of mine - so I'd be inclined to give the Calvus the 55g, and turn it into a Rift Tang tank. Nice rockwork, sand, some anubias.. a few rock dwellers, a shellie colony.

It all depends on the fish available to you locally and budget wise. Research the fish your lfs's stock and take it from there!

I don't know if Black Calvus can stay in 25 gallon tanks, but I do know that such a tank is too small for an RTS. I would recommend moving the RTS to the 55 since it will need the room...

Although a 55 would make a great Tang tank I'm going to have to agree with Iltat - it's be great to move the calvus but the RTBS just needs the space more. 55 is more or less minimum for the species, IMO.
