Hi everyone. I'm thinking about getting a pair of blue rams, and was wondering if this would work. They would be in my 20 gallon hex tank and their tankmates would be 7 cories (4 bronze adults, 3 albino juveniles), 3 Yoyo loaches, and 4 Otos. Would that overstock my tank, or would they be happy in there?

Water Parameters:
Ammonia- 0
NitrIte- 0
NitrAte- 25 PPM
PH- 6.7

I don't worry about the parameters to much but the pH is perfect for them, but I think the bottom of you tank will be overstocked because you got all bottom dwellers and the rams will be aswell, rarely going to the top.

I thought Rams lived in the middle primarily. When I see them in other people's tanks, they're always swimming around the middle. Do you think it would be a good idea to try them out in the bigger tank and if it doesn't work out I could move them to my ten gallon? I could always tranfer my zebra danios from the ten gallon to the 20 if I needed to.

I'm trying to make my 20 into a showy tank with the most beautiful fish I can care for. Blue rams were recommended to me by a guy at my pet store (customer, not employee) as being a fairly hardy fish that's not as delicate as some people say. He didn't know about the tankmates as he's always kept his in large species tanks.

Celt,

Rams are very water sensitive and therefore fragile. Add in the fact that your tank will be overstocked if you add them, and you are asking for problems. Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend adding them

You can go with the rams if you want because they are water sensitive but the are much hardier because they are not kept in the ideal conditions in the pet store. You can try the rams in your 20 but I would get ri of some of the bottom dewllers because your tank don't have much surface area.

Thanks everyone. I'm not going to go with the rams. I don't want to risk any trouble between them and my ottom feeders. This is why forums are great- I can ask a question and get answered by people who aren't trying to sell me the fish I'm asking about.
