Here are a few links with some information on this fish:

I personally have heard mostly good things about this fish. The only two cons I am aware of are the delicate nature of this fish, and that they can be aggressive to long-finned fish, or other blue rams.

I haven't had any problems with my blue rams and long finned fish. I have them in with angels, and they never bother them at all. They do fight amoung themselves, though. After all, they are cichlids. They are a little delicate, but aren't particularly picky about water conditions. I have mine in a pH of 7.4 and they've spawned. Blue rams are really a gorgeous fish.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

The ones who told me they'd attack long-finned fish were workers at my lfs. I don't know if they can be trusted or not, but they told me a ram would try to kill my betta.

I have two in my tank and have lost three. The first two I got both died the next day. Thinking back I don't think they were in the best of shape when I got them. Of the next two, I lost one a few day later and the other is going strong. I just added another yesterday and it is doing great as well. I think it's really important to acclimate them very slowly. I took 2-1/2 to 3 hrs using the drip method. The ph was about 6.8 and my tank is 7.5. I kept an eye on the ph and didn't transfer to my tank until it matched. Like I said he's doing great, starting to color up and everything.

blue rams a reputed to be more delicate than discus. this is true in many cases. keep the temperture really high (77-82) and the ph around 6.0 for best results.

Bolivian Rams are better

plus they aren't as sensitive to water condition

Bolivians are nice, but I definitely like the blues better. They look awesome when they're colored up.

I have both. IMO blues have much better coloring, in good condition they look absolutely fantastic. My Bolivians seem to be a bit more active and more agressive, but not to the point where it's a problem.

My original blues were ordered online and I lost two within a month; one of the first two Bolivians I purchased I lost in its second week here. I now have five blues and three Bolivians, really like them both.

Ok not to diagree with what Theresa has said, but I find my Bolivians to have lovely colour. The blues can be stunning, but in my experiance they are a very fragile fish.
I picked up 6 bolivians and 3 blues about 18 months ago I have since lost all three blues but all 6 bolivians are still going strong. I wish I had better luck with blues they are a beautiful fish.

Tom.
