Have a 5 1/2 gallon AGA. Was thinking a Bolivian Ram.......... Any reasonable tankmates for a tank of this size. Thank You for replies in advance.

Sorry, jessnick, but since bolivian rams reach 3 to 4 inches, it isn't a great idea to keep them in a 5.5 gallon tank. A 10 gallon would be the bare minimum. You might be able to keep shellies in the tank, but I don't really know enough about them to say that for sure. For something a little different in a 5.5 gallon tank, a pair of killi fish would look amazing.

You mean killifish? Here is a site that has some basic information on them and shows a lot of the common species you will find:

You might be able to do a pair of apistos. Or instead of a Bolivian ram how about a German ram? Pair of cherry barbs?

A German Ram? Are those as eye appealing as the Bolivian?

I have both and these are just my opinions and personal experiences I think German (blue) rams are more colorful, they're smaller, and more peaceful. Many people say German rams are more sensitive. My Germans are in a guppy/platy community tank, my Bolivians in a mixed SA/CA tank. I really do like both a lot

One of my first:

Another I just recently purchased, fantastic coloring:

a 5.5g is too small for either species of ram. gb's need around a 10 gallon tank to be happy and bolivian's need a 15g or larger tank.
