Does anyone know a good online fish store that sells bolivians? I have found them at one LPS in my area, where I bought my female. They haven't had them since...not even an empty tank for them. It was a one time deal.

I have also looked at the online places I know of with no luck. AZ Gardens sells them...the only place I've seen, but you have to order a minimum of $35. I'd probably buy more than just one bolivian...but probably not $35 worth.

I'd also prefer a male, so I'm prepared to buy atleast 3 in hopes of getting a male.

I've also never seen them on Aquabid.

Any suggestions?

Have you asked you LFS is they'll order one for ya? I have found that most places will order some if they are going to sell them. I would try that first if you're only going to order a single fish

I only have one good LFS in the area and its an hour away, so I don't get there very often. I do have a small fish store not far from my house, but I've ordered fish there once and they all died. He is also very overpriced, so I don't want to go through that again.

Would LPS like PetSmart order fish? I've never tried. PetSmart is where I got my bolivian from. I have a few chain stores in the area.

You might check Aquabid again in a few areas....always check the "Apistos" link, sometimes, a lot of the rams are there because they were once classified as Apistos. I see them there quite often

EDIT: here's one I found...might help:

Thanks Melissa! I didn't know they were classified as Apistos. I'll definitely check that category more often. A pair would be great because I'm starting to think my female is a male.

Your welcome! Yes, both GBR and Bolivians used to be classified as Apistos before they were reassigned to Mikrogeophagus (sp?) So, some of the sellers @ Aquabid still list them in the Apisto category. There are several listings for GBR's there too.

I've seen the GBRs and thought that people should have some Bolivians too! I just wasn't looking in the right place. I knew they weren't too extremely common not to sell on Aquabid.

I will have to keep watching the Apisto section because I don't have time to order them now. I will have to take a day off work so I can get them...so I have to plan for that.

I'm not so sure a pair will get along with my female though. So I'll have to either move her or find another tank for the new pair.
