My lfs recently received two fish that were initially unidentified. I came close to purchasing one because of their vibrant colors and tiger like look (good for my obsession with Tiger Woods), however, i chose not to purchase without knowing what it was. Tonight i went back and they had it listed as a Bumble Bee Cichlid and sure enough, that's what it is. Here is a link to their profile on another site:

Anybody have any experiences with these fish? I currently have 2 blood parrots, an electric yellow, and an electric blue in my 33 gallon. I understand that i am already pushing my stock limit so no need to lecture me on that, but would it be possible for me to go purchase one of these guys? They are already near full size (about 5 inches) and i think would compliment my tank quite well. Would i need to take back the yellow or blue in order to get the bumble bee? Thanks!

The blood parrots are my favorite fish by far. They keep to themselves yet they aren't afraid to swim around and showcase their beauty. I've never had a problem with their aggression and they seem to be easy fish to keep. They grow to be about 10 inches if i'm correct, yes. Mine are both probably not proper fish to have in a 33 gallon but i've had them for close to a year now with no difficulties at all. They are each about 4 inches in length, 5 if you include their fins.

I would strongly advise you not get them.........

They'll just turn your tank upside down, these are one of the Malawi Mbuna that can not be added to any tank under 55g.
Also that tank would have to a an all Malawi Mbuna set-up.

They get far to big for your tank and should never be mixed with blood parrots or any other non African cichlid from lake Malawi.

Beautiful fish though
