I would have to agree with you!! I love my convics!! What is something that is prettier, gets a bit bigger (but not too big for a 55), and get a bump and also can go with my convicts?

Nothing...unless you can get a tank bigger than 55 gallons in the next year or so. Anything that gets bigger than a convict and grow a nuchal hump will most likely fight with the convict given the 55 won't allow enough space for each fish or pair to stake out their own territory. If you want something that gets a bit bigger and gets a nuchal hump, then you won't be able to keep them in a 55 with convicts, at least not for more than a year depending on the current size of the convicts.

Now, there are a few species that stay in the 7-8" range that also get a nuchal hump. Several of these species are in the Herichthys genus. They're cousins of the texas cichlid (H. cyanoguttatus) and H. carpintis. A couple examples include H. bartoni, H. labridens and H. sp. 'Rio Salto'.

The Herichthys sp. 'Rio Salto' is available right now through Jeff Rapps at [link=his website]http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/" style="COLOR: #3399FF[/link]. At the top of the screen on his site is the menu where you can access his stock list. His minimum order is $50 and there's shipping on top of that, so you can also check out the "retail store directory" to see if there's an lfs in your area that orders from him. And of course if there isn't, you can always check with your local lfs and see if they'd be interested in ordering from him. If they do and name you as a reference you'll get $25 worth of free fish from him.

I changed my colors several times last night, and after going to the blue/blue I forgot to change the link color, which was also blue. So in case you missed it in the last post, [link=here's]http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/" style="COLOR: #FF3300[/link] a link to Jeff's website.
