We are working on a 78 gallon bowfront, which has been set up for 2years + well anyway, current inhabitants are 4 BR parrot cichlids of oh say very decent size, 1 RTBS, 2 pictus, 2 spotted raphs, 3 bronze cories, and 9 serpae tetras. My question is we want to move 5 angel fish in there, and take out the serpaes and put them in where the angels are coming from. Its a nicely planted tank, and the parrots pretty much keep to themselves..non harassing of the other fish. Can parrots and angels co exist happily?

72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up
75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

I wouldn't do it. Your tank will be very overstocked. You are overstocked at the monet already IMO.

How is it overstocked? The parrots are about 5" in length averaging, That doesnt make sense, but please answer my question, not about being overstocked... thanks.

Parrots and Angels can live together without a problem. Parrots tend to hide a lot while the angels will hang out around the top of the water in the open, so their territories don't even meet most of the time...

About your tank being overstocked, that's a matter of opinion, but it sounds a LITTLE overstocked to me. Parrots will reach about 10" in length and Angels are commonly thought to need 30 gallons of water a piece...honestly, I'd just put two angels in there instead of four, but that's just my opinion

Also, it DOES work, my mom had Angels and Parrots together

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

I'd had parrots and angels together before also, worked fine.

I think through time, the word overstocked has actually been abused. Overstocked, is basically too many fish for an aquarium bioload to handle. With two years in hand on this tank, it is probably very stable, and can take new fish, only with good filtration and regular water changes. Start with medium size, about 1"-2" bodies so it wont upset the bioload. Do more frequent water changes at first also.

Blood parrots do grow large, but they arent aggressive, and doesnt do much harm.

The tank does seem to have alot of other inhabitants, so you might restrict yourselves to a pair or trio of angels. 5 may be too many.
