Chiclid Community in a 29 | |
zachjc_14 Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 211 Votes: 24 Registered: 20-Apr-2004 | I am truly a beginner in the area of chiclids, yet I would like to tryt to keep a solitary german ram in the new 29 gallon (after cycling) along possibly with a medium-sized angel as well as some other smaller fish to really set off the centerpieces (the angel and ram will be the only chiclids). At my lfs, a fish similar in body shape to rams are being sold as crown jewel chiclids and lack the stunning colors of the rams, yet I thought it possible that the stressed rams simly lost their coloration due to recent arrival from shipment. Could thid be a possibility? Are rams usually sold under this alias? Would the angel and ram be confllicting in nature? What smaller and interesting fish could fill the spaces between these two stunning fish (possibly rummynose or another medium-sized SA tetra)? Thanks for replies in advance. ~Zach |

Rummynose Tetras are very beautiful & make a good company to both these setups. Maybe you can also add some Corydoras. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Might they be what you saw? http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/freshwater/images/cichlid/bolivianram/bram1.jpg I purposely tried to find a picture of one that didn't have much color to see if it matched what you saw. If you search online, you will see many that do have lots of color. They can be quite beautiful I've never kept one so I can't comment on if it is right for your setup but from the reading I've done about them, they seem similar to the German Rams but do get larger. |

I decided upon a pair of bolivian rams along with possibly a larger group of smaller tetras to accent the beautiful colors of the bolivians. I would like to include another species of bottom-dwellers more interesting than common plecos or corys, any sugestions on this topic would be greatly appreciated. |
