What are some chiclids without those ugly humps?

Also, if there is a kind where the female doesnt get it, list them too.

I know angles and discus dont get the humps.

thank

Actually male angels do get humps, only at an old age.The only cichlids I can think of without humps are african cichlids(accept the frontosa). Usually I like fish with hump, that give it a unique look like wearing a crown of some sort, like a king. O well thats my opinion.

Species I think without Humps.
-yellow Lab
-All rams
-Salvini(Im not 100% sure)
-All female cichlid of any kind.
-Oscars(No one can sex them by looks, so no humps)

Thanks.

I would like to get oscars, and i love frontosas, but they look ugly with a huge hump the size of a super ball on their head.

I know angles get humps, but their not really big, if it is a little bump, then it is fine,

I would get angels and/or rams. The angels hump is very minimal and you will not see it devoloping for a few years. Rams stay small and have a lot of color and dont get those humps.

Actually, the only "Africans" that get humps (that I can think of right now), are the Fronts, and the Buffalo Heads. Many of the CA and SA actually don't get the humps either. For instance, all the Apistos don't get humps, the Geo, and Gymnogeophagus don't really get humps as implied, though they do get a rounded head on some. The cichlids that get the humps are actually a small few, its just that these small few are very active in the hobby these days, so you are seeing more of them.

HTH.....

Most of the adults of the african are humpless.

of the most commonly available cichlids, Red devils, Midas, trimacs/flowerhorns, texas, convicts, green terrors/gold saums, black belts, synspilus and bifasciatus all get humps. females of some of these species may also grow a hump but it won't be as large as a male's.

firemouths and other Thorichthys do not get humps and are beautiful fish.

venting is much easier than dissecting. plus like I said, if a pair are together odds are the female's hump would never be as big as the male's. plus in many cases the female will only show a hump just before breeding and once the fry have left the nest her hump will disappear until the next time she breeds.
