Are there any bottom feeders that are suitable for cichlid tanks? I had some Emerald Corys with a Severum, Kribensis, & Pearl chiclid and someone (not sure who) was seriously nipping at their fins and I had to remove them. Any replacement suggestions besides a pleco (already one in the tank)?

The tank is a 50 gallon show tank. My boss is wanted a decorative fish that will eat any remaining food off the bottom, like a cory does in a community tank. We do not need another algae eater.

Look into Eartheaters, species Gymnogeophagus, a South American Cichlid. The come in a variety of colors and sizes and do a great job of sifting your gravel for bits of food.

I would say its the Kribensis that are nipping i have just posted a forum on mine if you would like to take a look. I brought mine a couple of days ago and they are nipping every fish in the tank. Here is the link for my forum http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/thread.asp?id=43860

The fin nipping could have been the kribs if they were spawning. Kribs will defend their territory from any fish whilst they have eggs/young. This generally means a chase until the fish are out of range or until the krib feels 'safe'. As kribs naturally are lower level fish, the corys may have received more punishment as they wouldn't be comfortable swimming to the upper levels.

I recommend a Syno of some kind. They live with them in the wild so are the best addapted and there are different looking ones and most are really cool (some can be a bit boring lol)

I happen to like loaches, a larger adult species might work well with cichlids, they are not really algae eaters they just scoop up what they find on the bottom of the tank. They come in a large varitey of styles and colours.
I have a CAE in with my cichlids rihgt now, he doesn't seem to do much except for suck on the brown algae.
