There are exceptions, as some types of cichlids wouldnt like alot of water movement (discus, angelfish, etc, which may be bugged by the high water movement). Others like oscars, jds, GTs, etc wouldnt mind. |

It's generally cheaper to get pond pumps, which are power heads, and modify them a little for your purposes. Alternatively, ditch the canister on the 250G and set up a sump system using the pond pumps... works for my LFS. |

Large cichlids will be able to handle the current. I have two of them in my 180gal (along with 2 canisters). |
