I have a twenty nine gallon tank. I was wondering what kind of cichlids I could put in it. Anywhere between 2-5 inches when adults. I want something REALLY colorful and with a cool personality. ANd they should get along, I was thinking Lake Malawi cichlids/mbunas.

mbunas dont get along. all they do is bicker and fight.

there are alot of options for a 29g.
pair of kribs, these are very common and cheap, hardy fish. easily bred and have alot of personality. only get to a few inches too. these are south americans who like plants.

brichardi pair. they arnt very colorfull but have a nice look with their lyretail and flowing fins. they also breed easily and will form a colony. sons and daughters will be tolerated. these are tangs and like heavily rocked tanks with plenty of caves.

i think you should research some more and look at your options not run to the store and buy the 1st thing that you see. its funny how many cichlids are ugly when babies and grow up to be awesome fish. the same goes for babies that grow into tank busters and shops wont bother to warn you of this.

take your time and decide what your after. not to mention the tank needs to be cycled

ok. I went to the pet store after your sugestion. I got a Ram and its doing great. Im going to get a mate for it so it can breed.
