I recently purchased 6 pots of hairgrass for my cichlid tank.
The lady in the shop says it will survive for about 3 weeks before becoming rusty and brown. Is this true or will it be ok? I have seen tanks with hairgrass before. I am going to put Tanganyikans in the tank.

Plants do not fair very well in cichlid tanks as they like to continuously dig at and move the substrate to their liking.

As far as the plants turning brown and dieing off, they really shouldn't if planted and maintained properly with adequate lighting and fertilization.
