Depends how large the tank is, and if they're breeding.

If they breed they will get fiesty and attack the fish. Clown Knifes get large and long, so I'd reccomend a 100 gallon+. They're sorta like easier arowannas. They do eat small fish, so dont keep small fish with a full grown one.

They are relatively peaceful, so it'll most likely work.

Just speaking from my own experience.I tried putting a clown knife in with my cichlids and it lived only for a few days. My ph level may have been to high as I believe clown knifes like slightly acidic water. Hopefully if you try it you'll have lots better luck than I did.

People usually keep oscars with clown knifes, I've had alot of customers call wanting to return their oscars and clown knifes which had been in the same tank.

how big is the JD compared to the knife? firemouths are relatively peaceful.

Do be careful, though....my friend had a 24" clown swallow three 6" African cichlids over the course of a week.
