![]() | Clown Loaches and Brichardi? |
Shambler![]() Small Fry Posts: 1 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 06-Jul-2004 ![]() ![]() | I was interested in putting a Clown Loach with a pair of Brichardi I have in a 20 gallon tank. I'm not sure if this particular pairing will be peaceful however. I tried putting a pretty large Bronze Cory in there and these two guys tried killing him despite his size. Despite that setback, I'd really like to have something that would clean up after the Brichardi when they eat their daily flakes. They can make quite a mess afterwards. EDIT: I'd also like to know what other kinds of cichlids would make good tankmates for the Brichardi. I might move them to a larger tank when I get my next paycheck. Good bottom feeders would be synodontis, the ones you might find suitable for your tank (when you get a larger one) are multipuncattus, decorus, nigreventis, eupterus, occelifer. Theres other ones out there, look around and see what you can find. Clown loachs arent a good choice for african aquariums. You might try plecos instead (gold nuggets, hi fins, etc) |

You'll have lots of fry & that's really great. With mine i kept E.Yellow's, Yoyo Loaches & a CAE, but i removed the E.Yellow to another tank, as they've been chased around all the time. The Yoyo's & CAE have alot of hiding places & that's important. If i where you, i'll leave them on their own & see if they'll pair up. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

A 20 gallon is probably too small even on their own. Synodontis catfish would be the best choice for tankmates, but I don't know of any that would go in a 20 gallon tank. Most synos get around 4-5" minimum (that's for multipunctatus and petricola), and like to be in groups of at least 3. I'd say it's time to get that larger tank, then you can have a lot more freedom in your stocking! The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde |
