The Tropheus I'm referring to are;
Tropheus Moori "Red Rainbow" from Kimbwimba.

I have 10 that are all between 2-3", i bought them as fry 4 mths ago, 10 was all they had.

Now my order for more finally came in, but there was only 5 that made the trip..

Their about 3/4", i have them in a grow out tank right now but want to add them to the colony A.S.A.P.

So my question is this:

What size should the smaller be before i add them in?

Any input would be great, i now the limits with my Malawi's as far as adding juv's goes but with the aggression between tropheus, i'm not sure if the size should be bigger before i add them.
They'll be going into a 75g, new to all of them.

I'm not in a big rush as i have plenty of tanks to play around with but as the smaller ones grow so to do the bigger ones.
I'm thinkin the sooner the better but what do you all think?

Thanks, Dave

I agree. If all fish are going into a new tank then they should be OK. Give them heaps of hiding spots and let them sort it out.
Good luck

From my understanding you would like to add the new, larger fish to the tank with the smaller sized colony already in?

This sounds like it will work, as the smaller fish will have established themselves - and there are more of them - while the five bigger new guys will have to find their places within the colony.

If this was the other way round - with five new smaller fish being added to the lager old group - I wouldn't hold as much hope for it to work out!

I'd get them in there asap, let us know how they get on. Any chance of some pictures? Good luck!

Thanks for all the reply's, I'd love to share a pic but am unable to post it as I'm not a registered member.

Also, the 5 are the smaller, 10 being larger.
I realize the reverse would have been more idea but these fish are hard to come by here, I just had to buy what they could find me........

So if I add the 5 little ones, wait ????(how long) before adding the bigger?

The tank is empty at the moment, so i can do whatever i need to to help this along.
Rocks are for sure, lots...

Also Am i right in thinkin this needs to be done sooner rather than later, i can spare the tank to grow them bigger but i'm not sure if thats worth the time and effort.
Being as the end result maybe the same.

Thanks again

Ok I get you, I got it back to front there - but still, adding the five smaller first for even a week would benefit them.
