Are there any other cichlids that are compatible with the mulitis?

Hi,

How big of a tank do you have?

with some rock work in a corner you could have some of the smaller species of Julis like Ornatus or Transcriptus (not gombi ).
Cyps come to mind but i believe you need a large school for these fish to be happy and dont think your tank would be large enough, but compatable.

That's a pretty good amount of space. In addition to a colony of multis - which im sure will grow over time - you have a few other options. brevis, occies, maybe similis? In a tank that size I'm sure you can mix at least two species - I know brevis have quite small territories, so I'm sure they'd be OK. Have you asked over at www.shelldwellers.com? They'll be able to give you a pretty good idea. Brevis are the only shellies I've had, so my experience is only with them. However, just knowing general shellie behavior I think there's no reason to believe you can't combine multis with any of the above. You may want to ask over at that shellie site for specifics though.

Thnx for the replies, there will be a sufficent amount of rockwork prolly 25lbs worth, i really like the brevis but ive read they are a lil bit nasty, but if i cust the colonies down a lil bit, maybe 5-7 of each im thinking there is enough territory for 2 species, i am going to check that site out now, thanx for the link

Even if brevis are a little bit nasty - which IME they really aren't that bad - they have quite small territories, some say as small as 6", so they'll stick to their part of the tank.

I'd be iffy on brevis, even if they aren't agressive, the multis might gang up on them. Stick with 1 species of shellie, some julies and maybe some midwater fish like calvus or conpressips.
