what can you keep with convict babies? i have about 8 of them (about 1cm) in a breeding tank/qtank (8.5gal) - can i still put new fish in there to quarantine or will they be picked on mercilessly by the convict babies??

also, i got a small panaque i never get to see in my bigger tank - could i move him temporarily to this smaller tank so i can get a look at him without the convicts harrasing him??

i know, i meant temporarily - i'm going to move my convicts before long, just wondered if they could share with other fishes that i need to quarantine, or with my panaque, whom i wanted to get a look at cos he hides all day in my other tank..

Although they may 'hassle' other fish, I don't think at 1cm they would do damage to them but if you are using it to quarantine new arrivals for your main tank, what risk are you putting to the convicts health? If you are keeping some (I presume not all) of them for another tank, seems pretty pointless but.....

yeah, the problem is i don't have a breeding tank and a quarantine tank, and to be honest, i would rather not jeopardise the fish in my main tank

i don't actually expect new fish to be carrying diseases as i am getting them from a reputable lfs, but i'd rather be safe than sorry

thanks for the replies!

Its not as easy as having a reputable retailer though. If you assume that the dealer won't have diseased fish, it would suggest that you wouldn't need a quarantine tank.... Unfortunately, thats not always the case.
