Convicts are good parents so personally I wouldn't take them out. My blue acara & GT have spawned 4 or 5 times and none of the other fish were allowed near the eggs.

I would leave the eggs & fry with the parents & see how it goes. They know how to take care of them.

Had blue acaras, johanni and b/n and convicts all spawn recently.A few of them in a community, and learned fast that if I wanted the fry (majority) to survive, they had to have their own tanks Now I cant seem to stop the convicts from spawning. But one thing I did notice is that they are really good parents, and attack any other fish that comes anywhere near their territory.
