id say 40gal min
but this is really just a guess

i say this because you can have a pair of firemouths in a 40gal and there the closest thing to convicts ive ever tried

I'd say 29 bare minimum but a 36" x 12" tank would be much better as the cons get to 4" and larger.

I have two 15 gallon tanks with 5 convicts in each I give them lots of hiding places none of them have a tatered fins or damage, just have to do a little more maintenance having that many in a small tank

freejoe, those aren't full grown. Males can get 6-7" and even larger in really big tanks. Females can get 4-5".

they are about 4 years old, they were in a 90 gallon tank for a couple of years and have been getting tank sized down for the last couple of years, it is all I have left from my bright idea of breeding convicts(the fish that is hard to give away)some of the smaller ones were runts that never seemed to grow the measurments are bodies not fins.

30% water change weekly
