If I put two female convicts in a 25 gallon will they fight? If I get a pair how often will they spawn?

Two females - it could go either way, but what I'd expect isn't out and out fighting, but more like the dominant female bullying the other until the subdominant stops eating and hides in the corner all the time. OTOH, with two friendly females they might handle cohabitation.

With a pair, how often will they spawn - constantly!

No, a pair's a great idea - just be aware that you're going to be up to your neck in fry. If you have a friend with an oscar, you'll be able to provide all the feeders he could want and more, or you can donate them to the LFS as feeders, and perhaps raise a few to be pets, but supply is high and demand low for Cons.

If you get a pair keep a watch on the male. he could turn aggresive on the female.

the female could turn aggressive on the male as well. just keep an eye on them. if you get them small then they will probably be fine...just keep an eye on them for aggression from either one.

Currently I have one female convict, and I was wondering. If I get a male and they spawn do I have to do anything? Like have a fry tank? Or could I just leave them to raise the babies.

if you leave the fry in the tank with the parents, chances are they will eventually get eaten. the parents will usually guard the fry until they are ready to spawn again. if and when you decide to remove the fry can affect how soon they'll spawn again. if you remove the fry, say 3 weeks after they become free swimming, the parents will probably spawn again the following week. however if you leave the fry with the parents, they'll probably start eating them around the 5th to 6th week and then spawn again.

no, the fish in my avatar is a Honduran Red Point. This is a species closely related to the convict but it is a separate species. if you'd like to see more pics, and pics of my other fish click on the 'www' at the bottom of my post. this will take you to my online gallery which has 2 pages of galleries of my fish.

I'd try to get one similar in size or slightly larger. when I got one slightly smaller than my female she killed him.
