Would it be allright if I fed my Jack Dempsey crickets every once in a while? I get them for my gecko and am wondering if they will make a good treat.
Thanks in Advance

I fed crickets to the one I had. Him and the Oscar both loved them.

Don't feed crickets you catch though. They could have pesticide or fertilizer on them.

About once a month i drop 2 dozen crickets into an oscar/severum tank. They are all munched down quickly, never had one escape.

On the same note i also feed them to my turtle tank. One thing i do prefer to do is hold onto them for a few days and give them a diet high in vitamins, minerals, and extra calcium. That way once they are tossed in the fish are going to get a richer diet.

Yes, "gutloading" the crickets is very important. Fluker sells an awsome product that's a gel, so it serves as food and water.

Even with the risk of pesticides from wild-caught insects (which I think is rather low), at least they're not emaciated, like the ones from pet shops.
