Ah, glad we got that cleared up!

The fish looks rather like an acei to me. But it's difficult to see. Got any other photos?

According to Ad Konings Book of Cichlids...

Crocodile Rocks is located on Lake Malawi.

The Cichlid you have there is actually the Copadichromis Borleyi. I have one myself. The one you have happens to come from Crocodile Rocks so I guess they are just calling it a Crocodile Rocks Cichlid.

You can find a picture here:

Just Beggining - That is not my species, no. Mine is pure black, not blue.

Malawi Freak - That is closer, but still does not look like him.

I don't have any other photos besides these BAD quality ones:

Crocidile Rocks. I think they are related to the rockfish.

Here is a link to a picture of one of the species of rockfish

The color does look like an Acei from the picture, but the body shape looks more like a Hap.

Crocodile Rocks is on Lake Malawi (not Tanganyika), and if your LFS labeled the fish correctly, it's possible that your fish could be Copadichromis borleyi "Crocodile Rocks".

I think a better picture is necessary for a true ID though.

Does anyone have these?

I've been trying to pull up some info on them but the most I can find are results on Crocodiles, and rocks. *laughs*

Crocodile rocks is actually a place in lake tanganyikan (if i recall).

The fish is most likely of the tropheus family. Is the body plain black, or are there markings that got washed out by the picture?

Is that a Copadichromis "red fin" borlyii?Possibly from crocodile rocks on lake Malawi,Africa? That would be a rocky out cropping on lake Malawi where a person could be reptile food if not extremely cautious.

Are you talking about the pots? The pots are probably specially made. The gravel part looks like crushed marble...

I dont think theres a fish called crocodile rocks .
