Are they both Apistogramma agassizii? I'm pretty sure both of the mentioned fish are just different color forms of this cichlid. If they are the same species, they will be able to breed together and produce viable offspring.

I have heard of tripple red A. cacatuoides throwing some orange flash offspring... If you are talking different colour morphs of the same species, then yes, they should have viable offspring.

Yeah I thought they would be able to reproduce since both are in the Cacatuoides family, I just wasnt sure if the offspring would be viable. Does anyone know what the fry would be like? Would they be mixed colors or some orange flash and some double red...?

i think but im not sure, some mite look like both, or may take after mum, or my take after dad, it depends on the jeans in the fish, for example,i had a electric blue johannii breed with a melanochromis maingano, and the fry were all different, some like mum, some like dad, and some like both, but these little fellas were VERY aggresive toewards anything.i ended up just feeding them to my bigger chilids

I have aggies too.. They're Agazzisi 'red's..

I've been offered 2 females of the yellow form for free... BUT I am struggling on if I should cross breed, or keep the lines pure.... Thinking I'll keep the strain pure.
