Mine is a little over 4" now and he can change his colors quickly and significantly. Here are a couple examples... I treated him for popeye when I got him, now I realize it's just the way he is. He is, by far, the coolest fish in my tank. I try to keep my purchases under $10 or "so". This one was more on the "so" side of expenses. |

I assume it must be a regular Jack and not a Blue. I can't imagine mine killing anything. He is so peaceful. He is the boss of the tank but since he shares it with Tetras and some small Thorichthys, he doesn't have act tough. Everyone just kinda stays out of his way. I had a pair of Honduran Red points in with him and they beat the crap out of him. I had toget them outta there. |

Searched everywhere inside and outside the tank. The only somewhat-agressive tankmate is my blue acara/GT hybrid which was about three times the size of the JD; I can only assume he was responsible ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

He's never lost appetite but one eye bulged to the point that I thought he was either going to or lose the eye. He's actually getting better and I am going to continue the Maracyn antibiotics for 2-3 weeks to make sure he is clear of desease for a while. |

If I do though it will start out in my peaceful 30g community until it gains some size. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

MacFish Small Fry Posts: 10 Kudos: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 31-Jan-2006 | Thats too bad. I lost my first 6. The first time I saw them at my LFS, I grabbed 3 for $50.00. The next day I went back and got 3 more. They were very small. The biggest was no more than 1/2". They did really well for the first couple months but all 6 died between 2 - 4 months. This one I have now was about 1" when I got him and seems pretty strong. My fingers are crossed If you decide to get another one, definitly keep it in the community to grow a little. Even then, I don't know if I'd trust any Blue JD's with a green terror. |
