Hi all,

In my new tank setup I have 8 small Electric Yellows, active little fellows they are too.
The question I have is in relation to current. All of the little fishes position themselves under the outlet arm which is pointing somewhat downward and swim in the current. I see nothing wrong with it but it made me think about the desired water movement for Electric Yellows, seeing they live in a lake with little current. What do you do as far a current goes with your cichlid tanks?

I know my hump heads love the current that they have but in the wild they live in fast flowing streams. I have had a few fish that do this as well two krib and an archer fish I think they are just doing it for fun. On the other hand they could be short of oxygen and swiming there because thats where the most o2 concentrated water is.

My mbuna have never seemed to mind current, they 'play' in it as many fish do. I think that Lake Malawi, being as large as it is, would have some strong currents anyway? Not sure about that, but your electric yellows should be fine.

Lake Malawi has little or no currents.
