I have a 80 gal oscar tank, with two oscar occupants (Please don't tell me this is not big enough, they are about 4 and a half inches long) aside from that they also have a fat head minnow in there that was sapossed to be food. Well its now a few weeks later and the fish is still in there, the O's don't even chase him, they ate the other three I put in but not this guy.

This fish is starting to dart at other feeder fish and he swims with the O's

My thing is.... WHY the heck have they not even bit at this fish??

Maybe the tank is so big,at there size they don't see a point to chase it....

Maybe the fathead is sick and the O's know it and don't want to eat it....

Maybe he just does not want to leave the big tank so he has out smarted them....(didnt think that was possible my O's are smart as heck)

OR are they saving him for a good day lol

I dont know I'd like to know why they are doing this when everything else that goes into the tank gets chomped.

Hopes for help,
Angel Eel

I thought they were full too until I remembered I own garbage disposal fish

Thats so weird how they won't touch it....
I guess I'll keep watching them see what happens.

If anyone else wants to give input, go ahead.

They are :%)

why are you feeding them minnows. Especially when they're not even that big. Plain pellets and frozen food is fine for them

Every once in a blue moon feeders won't do bad.
I feed them a large mix of foods, as much as I can find out they eat.

I, on ocassion throw goldfish into my Oscar tank, though they typically just eat pellets and krill.

Theres been goldfish living with them for upwards of weeks before they eat them.

I wouldn't worry. One day you'll wake up and it will be gone.
