I have to go along with cichlid crazy Geophagus Jurupari are a truly wonderful fish such a gentle giant. I have mine boy in a normal community tank at the moment amongst platys and mollies and gouramis and he bothers nobody He is there waiting to go into a dwarf cichlid tank but all the dwarfs are still little babies so I have to grown them on before he can go in with them but he is one hell of a character and those eyes of his how can anyone resist him lol

Anyone else keep CA that they think are neat?

yes, but if I list the ones that I think are neat this thread would be 3 pages long. LOL I love all CA's and a lot of SA's as well. I guess my favorite CA's of the ones I have are (all of them--but seriously), I love all Cryptoheros species...nanoluteus, nigrofasciatus (cons), sajica (t-bars), spilurums (blue eyeds), cutteri, myrnae, honduran red points, septemfasciatus. I currently have a pair of marbled cons and 2 HRP's though I'm starting to think they are both males.

I also love all Thorichthys...meeki (firemouth), callolepis, affinis (my least fav.), pasionis, helleri, aureum, maculipinnis, socolofi and then the 3 mixtecos (gold/blue/green). I only have firemouths at the moment but have had several others in the past. I really want some more helleri and mixteco golds.

My other favorite genus is Amphilophus. I currently have 2 pet store red devils (1 creamsickle and 1 almost all white), a costa rican red face barred midas, a show quality male trimac (thanks ACIDRAIN ) and a mated pair of A. festae (SA, not CA).

Nandopsis are also great...I currently only have 3 juvie haitiensis. still a bit nervous about these cause they're so e to bloat.

Oh and Vieja/Paratheraps are also wonderful and colorful fish. I love the ones I have which are bifasciatus, heterospilus, zonatus, regani and argentea. I'd really like a pair of synspilus too.

ok, gonna stop now before I take up too much more space LOL

He's around 11 inches now had him since he was 1". I'm not totally sure which one he is. The tag in the store just said texas cichlid. If I were to guess I'd say a green just because they seem to be more common.

zcilahim, that is a gorgeous texas cichlid. I'd say regular texas (H. cyanoguttatus) due to the size and number of the spots. there is always the chance it could be a cross of the 2 (cyanoguttatus/carpintis) though. either way it is a gorgeous fish.
