I finally saw some festivums in my lfs and I was wondering if I could add any to my 75g. Theres currently 2 bolvian rams and 8 diamond tetras, and a royal plec. I also have 8 lemon tetras waiting in QT. Also do they like being kept in small groups.

It looks like they’d be okay in your tank with the current stock. They’re pretty peaceful little cichlids, and seem to be pretty hardy. I’m going to offer a disclaimer though- both of those observations come from watching and caring for our festivums at work. Some of the people I’ve spoken with about them think that they’re semi-aggressive, and a touch delicate. I can’t vouch for that, but just keep an open mind.

Festivums actually seem to like interacting with each other, so I’d get a small group of them. They don’t do much squabbling at all that I’ve seen, so they aren’t going to ruin the community tank atmosphere. These fish are pretty nifty, I like them. They’ll get a yellow tint once they get good food and a good home, so that’s another little bonus.

I think they'd be fine with your current stock. I personally found them to be a bit shy, and they definitely seemed to enjoy company of their own kind.
