Well, it's the first time it's happened to me.. but i have been expecting it. Today one of my Oscar boys (Leopold) decided my finger looked tastier than his food... so a 10cm jump out of the water and CHOMP! He didn't draw blood, this time, as i think he realised he was biting the hand that feeds, just as he did it! Well... no Sunday night roast for him (i usually feed them a treat Sundays.. just like a roast, but obviously not roast meat!).

And to think, in the last few months both my boy's had become a whole lot more friendly, allowing me to pat them etc. before feeding time... Oh well, as long as he doesn't do it again, i might be able to maintain my full set of digits, rather than looking like i spent my life working in a machine shop!

I used to have an ~8" oscar that bit my finger once. It didn't hurt but it definitely caught me off-guard.

Maybe you could put a mini seaworld act together. Have him jump out of the water to grab a feeder guppy like Shamu.

MDB: Is that beer batter... or just the water based one

I chased him around the tank with the finger he bit (in the water), so now he's scared of it (hopefully). I already get him to jump out of the water for pea's and other treats, but i usually put that stuff on the end of a butter knife or something. That way he *shouldn't* confuse my finger as being food... guess that doesn't work
