I would breed them in a 40 plus and you can fit one in a 20. You will need to get a bunch and let them pair of themselves and they should be mature at around 14 months.

a 40 breeder would be a nice sized tank to try and get them to pair and mate, but i wouldnt do anything smaller.

i would say 55g simple for aggression reasons ..... u will need 4 - 6 to get a pair if u put them all in .... pkenty of big rocks to spawn on!

6x2x2 - Firemouth and Oscar Tank
30+ royal pythons.

Back in the game after 4 years out ..

40 is good, if you can get a larger, go for it.

Have a second tank ready for a grow out tank for fry. You wouldnt really need a 55 unless you've got the money.

I was wondering while still on the firemouth subject how small a tank would have to be for firemouths to live with other chiclids happily? I want a male and a female if possible

Thx

Depends, what tank mates are you planning on? A male and female would end up spawning eventually, so you'd need about a 40 just for the pair, adding other fish, you'll need more.

firemouths and africans are not a good idea. the water requirement are much different first of all. second, the firemouths will never be able to breed because the africans will eat their eggs and the africans would probably win any battles with them. that is just to begine with. i seriously wouldnt do it.
