A new picture, the dominant male crabro (appears almost black without the flash):

Hi JB
Thanks so much for the shots! I saw some of your images ages ago and was searching and searching for the person who had the tank set up so it looked like the fish were swimming in the kitchen and IT WAS YOU!

Happy conincidence.

I looked up crabros on the net and the shots led me to believe they weren't what I was after. Because the ones in their shots are not a patch on your guys. After seeing your guys I have changed my mind. I really like yours and will see if I can get some.

I am going to copy your set up.

Earlier today I called the shop. They have hongis and electric yellow males. I didn't ask about crabros because I hadn't seen your setup at that stage.

Will get some stock on Wednesday and add some on Saturday.
(I can get to the shop on Wednesday this week because of a public holiday here)

*points to flag* Here in Oz you mean?

I'm flattered by your comments about my tank! And the crabro really are beautiful. I didn't think they were available in Australia, so I was amazed when I saw some in an LFS for the same price as the more common ones. I ended up getting mine from a breeder though, I think I got 11 of them for $40. The male/female ratio has worked out well too, I think there are only 3 males in that group (there should probably only be one or two of course, but for the time being there are no problems between the males).

Hope your tank works out as well for you as mine has!

JB ~ I had thought you were in the States for all this time... don't know why.

I can't see your pic of Jo Jo. All others are working though.

How would I find a breeder to get some crabros? Should I post in the classifieds section of this site and hope there is one in Sydney?

Your best bet is Sydney Cichlids.

I'm not sure why the pic of Jo-Jo won't load. I'll try again.

JB, Your tank is BEAUTIFUL!!! I mean I love my set up but yours is incredible...You must not have any rug rats though, that is one of the true reasons I wouldn't even think about putting a tank without a wall:%)then again, i know how clutzy I am, others who come to visit...

But, incase I haven't said it enough, Your Tank Is BEAUTIFUL!!! Heidi

I'm really glad you posted this tank pic because it shows a tank positioned in a way I never would have thought do so. Excellent idea . What a contrast to banking it against the wall or having the whole thing out in the center. Having one short end against the wall seems like a grand idea.

Nice aquascape and fish too.

It looks like one end is curved and the other is not. Is that an illusion?

Diane

Thanks .

Yes, one end of the tank is curved, the other is flat. The whole thing is designed to be a divider tank exactly as I have it, the lids on the hood open from both sides and the stand has two-way cupboards on both sides as well.

Heidi - no kiddies for me yet (which is why I have a microsuede couch too, though it doesn't work too well with the cat ). I feel clumsy around the tank at night, I usually have to run my hand all the way along the glass and feel my way out after I turn out the room lights for the night (which are all located on one side of the tank)
